Annie Gnojek

Annie Gnojek is in high demand as a free-lance musician, flute educator and clinician in the Lawrence and Kansas City areas, where she manages a successful flute studio. In addition to her private teaching, she has been invited to present master classes at several schools including Oklahoma State University, Emporia State University, and Fort Hays State University. Furthering her dedication to musical education in her community, she co-founded and directed the now annual Kansas Summer Flute Festival along with her colleague Mary Fukushima.
Annie Gnojek is in high demand as a free-lance musician, flute educator and clinician in the Lawrence and Kansas City areas.
Apart from her teaching career, Annie is also the flutist in the flute, oboe, piano trio Allégresse along with Margaret Marco, oboe, and Ellen Bottorff, piano. Her trio performs numerous concerts through out the year including the world premiere performance of two new pieces in Birmingham, England in July 2008. As the 2008 winners of the National Endowment for the Arts Masterpieces: Chamber Music Grant, her trio has recently finished a tour through Kansas of all newly commissioned music. Their newest CD, Fresh Ink, features music commissioned by Allégresse and was released in January 2010.
In addition to Allégresse, Annie performs in a variety of solo and chamber music concerts throughout Kansas including a recital at Emporia State University and a performance of Mozart's Concerto in G Major with the Fort Hays State University Orchestra. She is currently working with Latin Grammy winning composer Gabriela Frank on a commission for an Alto Flute solo.
In addition, Annie is currently the Adjunct Professor of Flute at Ottawa University and the principal flutist of the Lawrence Chamber Orchestra.
She can be heard as principal flutist on the 2006 Naxos Release of Redline Tango with the University of Kansas Wind Ensemble and on the Allégresse recordings, Allégresse: Music for Flute, Oboe, and Piano (2009) and Fresh Ink (2010). Annie has also performed the music of Brian Kip Haaheim on the soundtrack to the Showtime documentary film, Fall From Grace. Annie performs frequently on Kansas Public Radio both with Allégresse and as a soloist. She placed at the national level at the Music Teacher's National Association competition in 2003, 2004, and 2007 and was a winner in the first annual University of Kansas Concerto Competition in 2005. She holds both a bachelor's and master's degree at the University of Kansas where she studied with John Boulton and David Fedele. Annie is currently the Adjunct Professor of Flute at Ottawa University and the principal flutist of the Lawrence Chamber Orchestra.
